People talk a lot at the regulars' table when the day is long. And days in the village Amselwacht are usually long. There are gossip stories, entertaining and absurd, touching on topics such as superstition, conspiracy theories and intolerance. As is usual for village gossip, the stories are of course nothing but true. The mayor's healing toenails are just as true as the village priest's pub crawl with the incarnate.
The book »Amselwacht« takes a new look at village and country life through graphic narratives and colorful double-page spreads. It lies in the field of tension between a longing for rural idyll, a biased city perspective and my own personal background.
